Mid-Week Update

I know I haven't been blogging every day this week like I sort of promised I'd try to do.  I could say that I sort of tried but that would be sort of lying.  So I'm not going to do that.  I've been tired and didn't feel like staying up to write about what has been making me tired.  I'll recap the last few days though.

Monday
After I got to Chicago on Sunday after a stop at the Cooper residence in northern Indiana and went to the Cubs/Yankees game, I was beat and had a little sleep before my first day of work Monday.  This was not what I'd expected at all.  It was stressful.  I was flustered.  I was out of the loop.  I didn't get to do any programing that I'd be involved in.  I was all around pissed at what I had agreed to do for the next 10 weeks.  It was that day that I pretty much decided that I was going to not stay up here all summer.  I did get a run in and it was very quality.

Tuesday
Day 2 of work was a lot better.  Stuff began to make sense but I was still behind.  I still had feelings of not wanting to stay so I had a chat with Zach, my immediate boss in this endeavor, and laid it on the table that I'd probably be going home soon and not staying the duration of the summer.  He wanted me to stay but knew that I had to do what needed to be done.  Mainly that thing is the research project with the doctors in Evansville.  I need to get that done by the end of the summer since I won't have time once school starts.  Got a bike ride in on the Skokie Valley Bike Path.  That thing is awesome!  I wish Evansville, and even Indiana, would get their shit together and build something as awesome as that.  There was an awful storm that rolled through the area and knocked our power out.  I was worried for my turkey and milk I had in the fridge but it survived the power outage.  I was beat again after all that.

Wednesday
Another day that was better yet.  We had to work at Starbucks because our internet was out at the office.  We got a lot done.  I feel like I've helped get this team together and get stuff done.  Compared to what was done when I got here, what we've gotten done in these past three days doesn't even come close to the volume that was accomplished in the 3 weeks or whatever the other interns had been here.  Whatever.  I'm leaving after this week anyway.  I rode to work and back today so I didn't feel the need to actually run or ride extra.  Plus my posterior pelvic bones that sit on the seat were sore.  I did eat an entire box of shells and cheese tonight, including some on two slices of bread.  Would have been a great sandwich with some ham or bacon.  Now I'm just waiting out the rest of the week, waiting to go home now.  My Chicago visit was short lived but well worth it.
